Jason stepped into his apartment building wondering when and and where his life would end.
The apartment was a High rise near the place he worked.
He was a manager of a restraunt called "Pizza is us" in the downtown.
It wasn't a bad job either, making almost a hundred and fifty k a year.
He got started at a much smaller place making only eighty thou a year, but that still was better than nothing.
The apartment was bigger than most, had a 60 inch hdtv with a playstation 3 hooked up which he played games and watched blueray when he wasn't working, which seemed to be alot these days.
If people didn't know him well they'd say he was shallow, but in truth that was his armor.
He did think of himself as a cynic and a pesimist, but It wasn't completely obvious to most people except for his parents of course, and his brother.
His cell rang, and with a touch of irritation, picked it up and said "hello."
"hi this is Mark withe the FBI, Your brother," He hung up after that, knowing his brother was under investagation for vandalizm and ecoterrorism.
He never spoke to "that brother" as he was called by there grandma.
Of course, the man called twenty minutes later, but he didn't hear the call because He was inmeshed in Call of Duty, Assension.
He looked and saw he had a missed call and, with closer investigation, a voicemail as well telling him to call Mark again which he promptly forgot to do.
three days later He came into the apartment shaking all over, hearing his brother was in jail with no bond.
Damn, he thought, just what I need, more problems today.
His mother called, and by the tone of her voice, it sounded like someone died or something.
And on top of things his girlfriend broke up with him, and the business he was working for was going bankrupt.
He went down to his mailbox and found the box was crammed full.
He came back to his apartment, heart heavy.
He looked through his mail and saw an official-looking envelope.
He opened it, wondering.
It was a summons to see some detective.
Paranoia crept over, and He went to get his gun, a Glock Fourty.
He sat on the couch, Putting the clip in and out of the gun.
He put it in one last time and cocked it when He heart a tap on the door.
He quickly hid it, fearing the worst.
He cracked the door open to peep out.
It was a woman, very beautiful, with black hair, and a briefcase.
He looked at her curiously, but something stopped him, He heard something that could've have been whispering, He couldn't say for sure.
And then He saw it. A shadow-like figure coming closer to the woman.
The woman herself seemed to be garbed in green armor, which looked like It could stand a bullet or two, and looked Heavy.
"Look out," he said, but It was too late.
The shadow was clinging to her like spiderwebs.
Before It overcame her completely He seemed to jump through her, which was very odd in itself, and strangely He felt her presence, her thoughts, And knew this wasn't a lover's embrace.
he made it through the other side and came through the shadow, and felt a wave of terror at the thing's thoughts and emotions but it was enough. The thing grunted in pain or rage, Jason couldn't tell for sure, the thing was defeated and vanished.
Before the woman fell, He managed to catch her, His hand didn't fall through her for some reason.
He let her fall slowly and saw green blood pouring out of her, though He didn't know it was blood.
"Don't die," I said with feeling but it seemed It was too late.
She replied, "Too late son, I'm already dying.
"Thank you for saving me, but I'm sorry."
"for what?"
A figure appeared out of thin air, ant at that moment, he knew He was insane, but He was very mistaken. It was just the beginning of a new chapter in Jason's life.
Little did he know His life would change forever.
"You must take my place, child." He was astonished.
"yes," said the other man in front of him mournfully. "An Earth conduit is passing, You must take her place, although such a thing has never been done by a man before."
"A what?" "Oh I can tell this is going to be difficult."
The woman expelled the last breath out of her silently and died.
He felt a push at the back of his mind, "you must take her power young sir."
It seemed easy, as he let room to pass for the something to climb it's way into his skull.
"Wow You're a natural!" the man said exxitedly.
"What is it," "your power, You must get the instructions."
But he felt the armor slip over his head on it's own.
He reached into the dead woman's pockets, unwilling, but it was gone.
"look in yours".
He did and found a few things. A book, probably the instructions, some sort of chain with a gold pendent on it.
"What is this," he said.
"Your talisman, of course. Makes your powers much stronger, pity she wasn't wearing it, but can't cry over spilled milk, in this case spilled blood, but you get the picture."
'What's your name?
"I'm Vantra, You're teacher, that is, until you learn everything properly." "Please take my hand and pleas pay attention, and keep that thing on at all times, We can't have another accident."
"Yes sir," I said, doing as asked.
I felt a tug and felt a whip of wind as we sailed, telleported, whichever, to the destination he chose.
"Earth's palace my friend."
I looked around. Spacious as this place was, I knew it would be hard to leave my apartment for whatever reason and walked around to a chair.
"Oh no sir, that one is for visitors, this one's yours."
He was pointing to a sort of thrown, which looked like It would be hard to sit in for a man but sat down anyway. All the sudden the chair changed to fit my average-for-a man sized But.
"Ah yes, the ever-adjusting palace chair."
Feel free to comment, It's probably going to be three to five short stories, but not sure.
I like what you have so far. It's quite interesting. I would like to read more.
